Peter, meet your brothers

posted Jun 23, 2013, 8:30 PM by Melissa Burke
Not a whole lot to report from over the weekend, but Peter finally got to meet his big brothers this afternoon which was a highlight. They got bored after about 5 minutes, but it was still amazing to see them gaze at their new little brother and ask, "why isn't he talking, Mommy?".  On the way into the hospital, here was the exchange I had with Jackson:
J: "Mommy, I am so excited"
Me: "Why's that?"
J: "Because I get to meet my Baby Peeder today!"
Enough to melt your heart...
Jackson & Tyler meet Peter for the first time
In other news, Peter had a pretty good weekend clinically.  He managed to keep his O2 sats up around 100% Fri-Sun (still seeing some de-sats but much less than earlier in the week and virtually no bradycardia (lowering of his heart rate) which was a welcome change).  He seems to be coughing a good amount and we definitely witnessed the biggest gags that we have ever seen from him while he was being suctioned over the weekend (all good things).  He is also now over his birth weight - 6 lbs, 4.5 oz on Sunday and continuing to grow.  We saw him holding his paci in his mouth - not yet actively sucking it but at least holding it seems to be a decent sign.
Still hoping and praying for some more active sucking and swallowing this week, but we are trying to be patient...only time will tell...
