Slow and steady

While we don't have any major breakthroughs to report, Peter has managed to make some steady upward progress over the last 3 days...there is something about the weekend with him!  He is now off the cannula and all meds (except Prilosec for reflux) and seems to be managing his secretions much better than in the past.  It's nice to be able to hold him and not worry that any movement might cause him to d-sat.  The last 3 days have almost been relaxing in the NICU, if that is even possible.  I know I might be jinxing myself here, but let's hope it continues!
He's up to 6 lbs, 15 oz (13 oz over birth weight). He continues to suck on his bottom lip more and more and his nurse today mentioned he was sucking on the suction tube she was using on him - so some good progress there.  Over this week I believe we might attempt to move his ND feeding tube (that goes into his small intestine) back up to his stomach to see how he reacts.  If he can tolerate it without too much reflux, that would be a good sign and would eliminate the need for additional surgery (namely a nissen wrap to prevent excessive reflux).  We plan to sit down with his new doctor tomorrow (she just got on service today but will be managing him for the next 3 weeks) to form a plan and hopefully discuss how we can get him home.  In the meantime, some more pics from the weekend.  J&T paid another visit to Peter and had a great adventure with Daddy walking around the hospital...
