We graduated!

Let's consider this the first of many graduations for our sweet Peter. Yesterday they moved us from the critical care nursery to the intermediate nursery because Peter has become more and more stable. Seems like a good step forward and one step closer to getting him home with us.

We are still working to get him to clear his secretions without his oxygen sats dropping (or his heart rate). Yesterday was fairly uneventful but Peter seemed a lot fussier then he had been - crying out a regular intervals. This made them question if he could be having a bit of reflux so they started him on some reflux meds today. We've also had some trouble keeping his feeding tube in the right spot.  Poor guy has gotten that tube in and out about 6 times in the last 2 days and each time they redo it he has to get an X-ray to check the positioning. We finally think we managed to get it in the right spot this morning. Once he got settled, he slept for a good 3+ hours - little guy was tuckered out!!

We've been warned that this part can feel really slow and it does!  We are just praying that as he gets stronger he will continue to get better at handling his secretions (swallowing and coughing). The hard part is having the patience to let him do it in his own time. I have to keep reminding myself that he was meant to be in there for 2.5 more weeks. I think he's just waiting for his rightful due date of July 4th to get it together so he gets a firework celebration like we promised!

I get to wear clothes now (tricky to match my red hair though!)
